In the true sense of the word, network marketing originally began
in small communities. When our country was settled, the pioneer businesses
developed from shear necessity. The Sears & Roebuck catalog produced
the giant corporation.
The catalog represented the first vision into what we now understand
"e-commerce." The major difference between the two, is the Sear's
catalog could also be used in the outhouse! As the West developed its cities
and communities, soon came the travelling salesman, the carpetbaggers,
the railroad, etc., in order to support the ever-growing population.
Today, our world has grown into a "global market." The TELEPHONE,
answering machines, cell phones, beepers, modems, and E-MAIL broaden our
horizons, both physically and virtually!
How did previous generations survive. I can't imagine having to
receive a telegram that someone in my family was injured 24 hours ago or
not knowing my children can reach me in a minutes notice. All our
businesses are generations of the Sears & Roebuck catalog. Today, it
is the Internet. Our businesses are still the same. Our tools are different
today. Our marketing tools enable commerce to grow. Commerce is reaching
out to touch someone. I believe these new tools will offer marketing a
greater reach to assist our business growth.
If we, as business owners, continue our business to meet the needs of
today, we will succeed. If we are a business which provides newsletters,
reach as many people with that newsletter as you can. Exposure is the name
of the game. If we are a business which provides services/retail, expose
that company to as many as you can.
I have seen small towns collapse when WalMart came too close to a rural
community. The small drug stores were not able to compete on the larger
volume via purchasing power. The meat market could not compete with the
large grocery chains which could buy direct from the cattle lots! Todays
farmers can not buy the expensive equipment necessary to compete with the
large producers.
Cooperative measures are necessary. Provide distribution agreements
to any website with a shopping cart to carry your product at their website
in addition to your own website. Networking will help you gain global
exposure. We have provided such a shopping environment to assist
women in selling their product and services. If you are interested
in forming an alliance or distribution agreement like this email

and request information on the Our Town Center E-Commerce project to support
and promote the businesses of women.
All of our lives are busy. The traffic is heavy. Time is of the essence.
Today we have internet to help us get everything done. We use our bank
check cards instead of writing checks. We have automatic withdrawals to
pay our bills...free the time to do more constructive things. We are a
fast-paced world and marketing has become a giant in itself! Understand
the concept and half the battle is won!
As a small group of networking women in business, we have formed a centralized
area for growth and power. Combining these cooperative tools will enable
us to continue our search for financial independence and quality of life
for our families and children. Without the eye-opening recognition of cooperation
we are doomed! No longer does the family farm support more than one family.
Our children are selling the farms and moving away to secure employment.
Most of our grown families live many, many miles from each other. Our lives
have turned to note that we will NOT see our children retiring from a company
they have worked for for over 20 years. Competition will not allow that
any longer.
This is why I am constantly asking the group to look at their individual
businesses to see where they can develop cooperative liasons with other
woman-owned businesses.
We have to support one another or the giants will consume us! Today
we shop at large malls for convenience. These malls charge extremely high
rent to merge the stores together. Ask yourself why? Because groups have
to be formed in order to make a mall successful! We have to form a tightly
knitted cooperative or we will not be able to compete. Today is our chance.
Let's not go to the malls shopping. Let's work together! Go shopping with
networking women as much as possible.
As far as profit is concerned. We, as consumers, are paying higher prices
for the products sold in commercial malls. The owner has to pass the consumer
the price for convenience. In order to protect our children from becoming
latch key kids, we, the consumer/mother/whatever have to do the planning
for the future.
This is NOT a dream. It is a reality. We can accomplish this. Today.
Can you just imagine how technology will change for the next generation?
I can't wait!
